Disciplined practices are essential to harness our neurobiology and biological "algorithms" and maximize our capacity for informed choice, meaningful impact, and sustained and sustainable peak performance. Too many people hit burnout, however, these practices enable you to align your evolved neural systems with the demands of your complex, modern world and find sustainability.

Our neurobiology evolved for the hunter-gatherer environment—a world vastly different from today's information-rich, attention-demanding reality. This disparity creates a mismatch between our inherited neurobiological systems and what we need to thrive now, contributing to a host of modern health challenges, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, inflammatory conditions, and dementia.

Fortunately, we have powerful tools to address this gap. Understanding and training your neurobiology, and working with it purposefully can transform how we engage with ourselves and our world. The breath, acting as the “gears” of the mind, impacts every function within the body: how you breathe shapes how you live. Mental perspectives determine our states of health or wellness; how you think and how you emote determines your ongoing well-being. Together, we will work systematically to develop breath and mental disciplines, guiding you to navigate this mismatch effectively and optimize your life.

My Background

HOW MY JOURNEY BEGAN...

 

Throughout childhood, I faced adversities, traumas, and wonder in nature. Rucking in the Northern Pennines, inspired by the Apache Nation, I discovered the power of breathing. This connection deepened with martial arts, especially internal ones. A major back injury, plane crash, and high-speed road crash tested me, but the principles of deep yoga and pranayama accelerated my healing. Throughout my challenges, the breath has been pivotal.

 

WHERE I WENT...

 

I traveled globally, spending significant time in India, and learning from key mentors. For over four decades martial arts, chi kung, authentic yoga teachers, and deep Shamanic practice profoundly influenced me. I trained for twelve years under my root teacher and another twelve with another notable yoga school, before nine years with a Tibetan school. Later, I studied Breatheology with Stig Severinsen and learned from and worked with Viola Edward and others with Conscious Connected Breathing. Dr Peter Litchfield and my background in evolutionary biology, physiology, and neurobiology have also been key influences. 

 

WHAT I DISCOVERED...

 

For nearly five decades, I’ve delved into yoga, martial arts, meditation, and biology, learning from esteemed teachers worldwide. My qualitative research into breathwork has shown its link to optimizing well-being, maintaining a Flow state, and navigating life with wisdom. I share the meta-disciplines, the meta-skills of mind-training, conscious breathwork, and embodied awareness as best I can into the world as tools for our collective conscious evolution. 

 

WHY I TEACH...

 

The transformative power of these meta-skills, influenced and impacted me in every walk of my life. I believe everyone would benefit from accessing these life-enhancing practices. My mission is to share these, empower others, and invoke excellence in all these domains.
